After having conducted several successful seminars in various cities, many people asked me if I could do online versions to reach a wider audience. As a passionate teacher wanting to make a difference in our field, I have answered the call: we are ready to go online with my first series of webinars starting next month! So how are mine different to the millions of other seminars and webinars dotted all over the place? Firstly, I believe that combining knowledge as well as experience has proved invaluable and is not something that can be easily found in journals, books etc. And this is an experience which has been built up to a high level over 18 years through blood sweat and tears. I also understand the need for a hands-on approach so as a result, there will be many handouts to accompany the live sessions so you have something to take away with you for future reference. In addition, I sincerely believe the themes and information shared should have one main function: that the advice and instructions you receive will make a huge difference to your teaching career! Therefore, I understand the necessity of choosing themes that DO make a difference and I aim to provide teachers not what they want, but what they need!

How to plan effective lessons

Have you ever planned a lesson in extreme detail based on what you were taught and that lesson just flopped? In these sessions, we will move beyond basic CELTA requirements by looking at some of the important characteristics of a memorable and engaging lesson where your students will “take something away” with them by adding a practical and humanistic approach to planning. In addition, we will play with planning lessons together in set and every day common scenarios such as: you are late to school and have 15 mins to plan or your printer has packed up, what do you do with your class of 10 teens? How is it that the printer doesn’t work, power is off, no books available and yet it was the best lesson you have ever had?

Building the teachers' charisma

These sessions of seminars are something you almost won’t find anywhere else. When I meet teachers and we discuss the difficulties of the profession, more often than not, it has nothing to do with the methodology or materials but rather with the teacher themselves. We will look at understanding basic psychology of building confidence, how to develop the “teacher’s presence in the classroom,” how to make use of the 5 E’s (Empathy, Expertise, Enterprise etc), how to become
dynamic and understanding the needs of our students.
I recently experimented with these themes in seminars with huge success so now it’s time to go nationwide!
